After the onset of Covid-19, I began several new hobbies, which I wouldn’t have started otherwise. From fishing to camping to video gaming to flying a US entity listed drone.
But you can’t play video games too long, not because the big brother is restricting the playing hours by underage people (grown-ass man I am!) but because eyes began to hurt soon when some ultra-patriotic players attacked you in PUG Mobile. Then, you have trouble reporting the annoying bastard due to your short-sightedness.
Of all the activities, I like camping the most. Getting away from the bustle and tussle of the city life, I truly enjoy the tranquility of the controversial South China Sea and the endless blue sky.
Just assembling the tent, collecting timbers for a bonfire, preparing meat with limited tools, and stacking items into a backpack, all of these tasks will keep me busy from reaching a mobile phone.
I’m not fond of it when I realize I’m checking Twitter and Facebook for no reason. On my Instagram, I used to see lots of posts of bay watch girls in bikini tops, but now I only see advertisements for camping tools.
Thank Google for collecting my personal information and selling it to third parties. I didn’t mind this, though, as it did help me buy products online, which later I realized were nothing but prices of unnecessary crap!
I believe we live in an incredibly convenient world surrounded by digital devices and anything electric, but at the same time, we are losing our connections with nature. Camping is one of the rare activities which can restore that connection. Let’s go camping!
